The World of Spellweavers
No one knows the name of the first to channel power from the In-between. All we know is that power is there, waiting. It has always been there. Most can live their entire lives without seeing it. Without ever acknowledging the flickers of movement caught in the corner of the eye, the glimpse of a figure seen in the shadows as their eyes adjust to new light, or that feeling of a presence that lurks nearby in lonely moments.
But it’s not always a choice to confront the things that slip from the In-between to the Here-and-now. Some stand and fight, raising their swords and shields as champions over those skittering lurks. Some make their livelihoods on the edges, sharing the shadows and living by the hand and the blade.
And some have learned to reach through the veil. To draw on the power that waits In-between.
For those calling themselves Lifecallers, it is a life-force, a beating heart and a warm glow.
It is something more savage—and perhaps more sinister—to those who call themselves Spellweavers, though they also strive to control it nonetheless.
And for all of these would-be heroes or villains, there is a simple truth: The In-between has always been there, and always will be, waiting. And we are not the only beings to draw on its power.
Salvana
The world of Spellweavers is a fantasy of ancient technology. All societies within this expansion are at the Ancient (TEC 1) technology level.
There are three major societies in the world of Spellweavers, divided largely along continental and species lines, although the larger cities and communities on the margins between nations tend to be more diverse and integrated.
Alinari
Alinar is ruled by a colloquium of judges known as the Alinar Judicial Elect.
Members of this society typically speak Language » Alinari and Language » Common.

Fairanai
Fairana is a Contractual Bureaucracy, with a rigid system of traditional laws and cultural rules that are encoded and enforced through a combination of convention, economic and social pressure, and (when needed) enforcement. There is no central seat of govenment. Instead jurisdictions at all levels apply the strict legal structures set out in The Contract, a comprehensive enumeration of rules, responsibilities, compensations, and penalties that underpin the whole of Farungai society, which is collectively known as the Fairun Concord.

Sanafira
Sanafir is a monarchy with a hierarchy of feudal obligations connecting local lords in a network of military support.

The king of Sanafir rules from the Throne of Leaves in the Linden Palace.
The In-Between
Although many have attempted comprehensive study of the In-between, few treatises exist or survive to document their work. Indeed, most can neither sense nor perceive the forces that exist there. That some can do so only spurs others to continue their quest to understand.
Much is unknown about the In-between. Is it a parallel world? A plane of existence? An energy field? A liminality?
Here is what is known:
The In-Between is Everywhere
Those who can sense or draw on its power report that power as constant an universal. Except for the localized intensification within Wells, the strength or accessibility of the power drawn from the In-between does not appear to vary by geography or time of day.
